Bernice here from Oopspinion, as you all know, I am a glutton at times, i mean all times, thus, in order to keep in shape and all (which i often fail to), I ‘like’ to gym and stuff.
So recently, boyfriend and I have been reading up on topics about slimming down and he taught me a few common misconceptions that girls often have.
1) CARDIOs ARE NOT ALL YOU CAN DO TO SLIM DOWN!
Many articles state that doing cardio alone will not only burn fats, it burn off your muscles too! And muscles actually require more energy to function whereas fats don’t. So if you want your metabolism rate to go up, (meaning if you want to burn more calories while doing NOTHING) you have to gain more muscles. And if you rely on cardio solely, you will burn off your muscles along with those fat which means your metabolism rate will actually slow down! I know I know, girls often think that cardio is the best way to slim down cuz you sweat it all out and literally see the ‘calories burn’ stated on the machine. But hey, give weights training a try, you might like it more! (at least i do.)
2) I DON’T WANT TO BULK UP!
Yes, thats what i thought too. But really, female doesn’t produce that much testosterone as male and thus, we wouldn’t bulk up! Plus, there are millions of men out there TRYING to bulk up but they can’t, so girls, lets not think so highly of ourselves, its not that easy to bulk up. Female body builders usually take steroids to help them bulk up, so yea, we wont.
3) WEIGHTS ARE ONLY FOR MEN.
Oh please, if they are only for men, I don’t know what are the 2kgs and 5kgs weights for.
4) I WILL LIFT LIGHT WEIGHTS BUT DO MORE REPS.
This is useful too, but in order for better results in building muscles, we have to lift heavier! Push yourself to the limit.
